Amber Alert presents the raw footage of a real life amber alert crisis caught on video. While filming their audition video for a popular reality television show, best friends Nate and Samantha notice several active amber alert signs. SPIES OF MISSISSIPPI – PBS
Enter the chilling world of anti-civil rights espionage. Spies of Mississippi reveals in shocking detail the state of Mississippi’s effort to undermine the civil rights movement using a vast network of spies. Their identities will shock you. Nothing I have learned about the civil rights era surprises me anymore.
MIDSOMER MURDERS: Series 6 – Acorn
Who knew the English countryside could be so violent? This British television program has taken the U.S.A. by storm and is arguably the best who dun it program currently on television anywhere in the world! Set in a contemporary setting, nice guy detective Tom Barnaby (John Nettles) and his assistant, Sergeant Troy (Daniel Casey), work together to answer the questions left to ponder by the mortal man. A program for the true thinker as well as those that simply wish to be entertained, Midsomer Murders are worth the purchase price alone.
TESS – Criterion
This multiple-Oscar-winning film by Roman Polanski is an exquisite, richly layered adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles. A strong-willed peasant girl (Nastassja Kinski, is sent by her father to the estate of some local aristocrats to capitalize on a rumor that their families are from the same line. This fateful visit commences an epic narrative of sex, class, betrayal, and revenge, which Polanski unfolds with deliberation and finesse. With its earthy visual textures, achieved by two world-class cinematographers: Geoffrey Unsworth (Cabaret) and Ghislain Cloquet (Au hasard Balthazar) – Tess is a work of great pastoral beauty as well as vivid storytelling.
